Classical Voice Lessons

Develop a balanced, expressive voice through thoughtful, individualized training.

Classical singing requires a unique combination of coordination, musicality, and expressive freedom. Whether you're beginning classical study, returning to traditional repertoire, or refining your technique, our work will focus on building a reliable foundation for your voice.

Through an approach informed by vocal science, acoustics, and performance practice, we'll explore how your instrument functions and how to apply that understanding to the music you sing.

Build a Strong Technical Foundation

Classical voice training is about developing coordination, consistency, and the freedom to communicate through music.

Depending on your experience and goals, lessons may include:

  • Breath and body coordination

  • Vocal registration and passaggio

  • Resonance and vowel modification

  • Legato and sustained phrasing

  • Range, flexibility, and vocal consistency

  • Art songs and classical repertoire

  • Diction and musical interpretation

  • Preparation for auditions, recitals, and ensemble performances

We'll approach these skills with curiosity and attention to your individual instrument, rather than forcing your voice into a predetermined sound.

Classical Training With a Modern Understanding of the Voice

I believe effective classical training should help singers understand their instruments, not simply imitate a sound.

My teaching combines principles of vocal pedagogy and acoustics with individualized exercises and practical application to repertoire.

We'll explore how breath, registration, resonance, and articulation work together, while allowing your voice to develop at an appropriate pace.

Whether your interests lie in art song, classical crossover, choral repertoire, or traditional musical theatre, the focus is on building technical freedom and musical expression.

Classical Lessons for Developing Singers

These lessons may be a good fit if you're:

  • Beginning formal classical voice study

  • Preparing art songs or recital repertoire

  • A choir singer looking to develop individual technique

  • Working on legit musical theatre repertoire

  • Returning to classical singing after time away

  • Looking to improve breath coordination, legato, or registration

You don't need to arrive with a fully developed classical sound. We'll build from where you are.

Begin Your Classical Voice Training

Your introductory lesson is an opportunity for us to explore your voice, discuss your musical interests, and begin developing a plan for your training.

Whether you're exploring classical singing for the first time or looking to refine your existing technique, I'd love to work with you.
